Abstract: 
Researchers at the Ames Laboratory have invented a cost-effective method for the production of pure hydrogen gas from ultra high capacity hydride solid materials. Pure gaseous hydrogen is obtained in the required quantities in excess of 5% hydrogen by weight at the required rate from a solid material in a solvent-free environment at ambient conditions. This method has utility for energy conversion and production technologies that consume pure gaseous hydrogen as a fuel, such as in fuel cell technology, as well as for the storage, transportation, and production of hydrogen.
