FLC Tech Focus Area: Autonomous Systems

Autonomous systems technology is providing solutions for federal agencies’ missions and operational effectiveness. From aerial to underwater frontiers, federal laboratories are pioneering new, smarter technologies through autonomous research and development (R&D). In 2019, the FLC's Technology Focus will center on the autonomous systems expertise, capabilities, and technologies available at federal laboratories.

The opportunities for advancing smart and autonomous systems technologies are vast. Federal laboratories representing nearly every federal agency are using their science and technology expertise to push the boundaries on automated capabilities.

Areas of Exploration:

Intelligent Autonomy, Human Autonomous Systems, Sensor Systems, Networking and Communications

Examples of autonomous systems include, but are not limited to:

The technology applications for autonomous systems technologies span a wide range of industries. From defense to aerospace, transportation and healthcare, autonomous technologies have the ability to significantly impact everyday life in ways we never thought possible.
