USAF Seeks Industry, Academic Partners to Accelerate Tech Transfer Objectives

Agency:
Dept. of Defense

The U.S. Air Force (USAF) recently posted a call for white papers in the hope of entering into one or multiple Partnership Intermediary Agreements(s) (PIA) with small businesses and academic institutions. The Request for Information (RFI) was posted on FedBizOpps.gov by the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) under the authority of 15 U.S.C. 3715, as defined in 15 U.S.C. 3715 (c), to provide services for executing the mission of the AF CyberWorx.

Through the RFI, the USAFA and AF CyberWorx aim to increase their collaborative success with potential industry and educational partners.

The goal of the PIA(s) is to accelerate and promote technology development and any technology transfer activities that may occur, outbound or inbound, between the USAFA and academia, industry and federal laboratories.

Aside from recruiting key stakeholders, tech scouting and eventual technology transition, the USAF will work with partners through a PIA to identify and secure venture-capital opportunities, and to develop commercialization plans and intellectual property assignment strategies for technology application in the defense industry.

The deadline to submit a white paper in response to the RFI is February 28, 2019.
