Three Department of Navy Technologies at 2011 World’s Best Technologies Forum

Three Department of the Navy (DON) technologies were chosen to present at the upcoming March 22-23, 2011, World’s Best Technologies (WBT) Innovation Marketplace in Arlington, Texas. The WBT, which began in 2002, has evolved into one of the country’s leading networking events, bringing together entrepreneurs, private companies, research institutions, government laboratories, and investors to encourage deal-making to launch companies and cutting-edge ideas into the marketplace.

The three DON technologies chosen to participate in the 2011 WBT include: NAVSOLVE™ Siloxane Solvent Compositions from the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, which provides the advantages of a solvent-based cleaner while offering low volatile organic compound content free of hazardous air pollutants that meets and exceeds the Department of Defense’s new MIL-PRF-32295 TYPE II specification; the NoFoam External Unit from the Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center, a method for testing aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles using a combination of water and an environmentally benign degradable water-dye solution for quarterly and annual testing of rescue vehicle discharge systems; and the Smart Connector from the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, which enables maintenance crews to break diagnostic ambiguities in aircraft by inserting test access points between avionics boxes, accelerating on-aircraft testing and reducing false alarms, aircraft downtime, and logistics costs.
