In an effort to protect technology companies from "patent trolls" who buy patents solely to sue others for infringement, Reps. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) and Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) recently introduced the Saving High-tech Innovators from Egregious Legal Disputes (SHIELD) Act in the House of Representatives.
