The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center’s (TARDEC) Ground Vehicle Survivability & Protection’s (GVSP) LASER Protection Laboratory provides engineers and scientists the capabilities to characterize the optical performance of day vision systems and their response to lasers to investigate ways to protect eyes and sensors from laser energy. GVSP is currently working to improve sensor protection technologies and adapt them to multiple ground vehicle platforms. In addition, the engineers and scientists are continuously developing and testing new materials, devices, and strategies to deliver counter advanced LASER technologies.

TARDEC is the ground system expert administratively aligned within the Army’s Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM). TARDEC’s mission is to develop, integrate and sustain the right technology solutions for all manned and unmanned Department of Defense ground systems and combat support systems to improve Current Force effectiveness and provide superior capabilities for the Future Force.
