FLC National Meeting 2019 Recap

The 2019 FLC national meeting was successfully held April 23 to 25 in Orlando, Florida! Over 400 of the nation’s top technology transfer (T2) professionals gathered at the Hyatt Regency Orlando to learn, strategize, and make business connections.

This year’s meeting kicked off with a full day of onsite training that featured seven courses, including CRADA Workshop, AMA Training – Technology Through Teaching and Coaching, and Technology Transfer for Beginners.

FLC Chair John Dement led Wednesday’s opening ceremony, followed by keynote speaker Dr. Walter G. Copan of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Expert speakers at Wednesday’s concurrent sessions, including Manufacturing USA Panel and ROI and Lab-to-Market Next Steps, provided valuable insights on innovation strategies and how to achieve lab-to-market success.

FLC award winners were honored Wednesday evening at the awards reception and dinner. Thirty awards were presented to 27 laboratories representing 11 federal agencies.

On Thursday, April 25, several FLC standing committees, FLC regions, and Department of Defense (DoD) branches held meetings for current and interested participants to discuss this year’s activities and pertinent plans.

In addition to the valuable training and meeting sessions, attendees were able to vote for FLC national positions, visit various exhibitor booths, and play an interactive game via the FLC meeting app. They were also given the opportunity to explore the FLC’s virtual environment, LabTech in Your Life, using a virtual-reality headset.

The FLC would like to thank all meeting attendees, participants, and exhibitors for joining us this year at another successful national meeting!
