The FLC offers a wide array of products and services to disseminate information concerning federal technology transfer, research and development, and commercialization. The FLC planner visually communicates the outstanding research and development efforts of the federal laboratory system. Images and captions tell the story of the technology's scientific relevance and potential impact. Printed annually, the planner is distributed to over 10,000 recipients, including members of Congress, scientists, researchers, agency representatives, laboratory directors, technology transfer professionals, students, academia, and members of industry.
Each submission must include:
- A high-resolution image or illustration of the featured technology that showcases the R&D conducted at your lab (full size, 300 dpi or greater, in one of the following formats: TIFF, JPEG, EPS, PSD, or AI)
- A photo caption to accompany the image explaining the technology’s scientific relevance and potential impact (100 words or less)
- A laboratory bio (70 words or less)
- A photo credit (The person responsible for taking the photo)
- A high-resolution version of your laboratory's logo.
Federal Laboratories & State and Local Governments
Partners for Technology Transfer Success
The FLC has a federally mandated mission to assist state and local governments and regional organizations and to help them participate in – and benefit from – the technology transfer process with federal laboratories. Federal laboratories and federal R&D are key components in helping the nation achieve its full potential, fostering state and local economic development by sharing resources and forming strategic partnerships at the state, local, and regional levels.
This biennial publication highlights some of the ways that federal laboratories are achieving this mission. The FLC seeks to ensure that state and local government entities and economic development organizations are aware of all the ways that federal labs are standing ready to help, from STEM education, to first responders, to local ecosystems, to emerging industries – to name a few.

We’re always looking for successful federal commercialization and partnership stories that help to promote federal laboratories’ T2 missions. If your lab has recently completed a successful transfer or entered into an R&D partnership, we want to hear about it!
For your story to be published in the FLC success story gallery, please make sure your story meets the following criteria:
1. The story must be approved by your laboratory or agency’s PAO office.
2. The story must include at least one of the following aspects:
a. A successful commercialization of a technology
b. A successful partnership between a laboratory and an external organization or another federal laboratory.
c. If the federal technology has not been commercialized, the story must include how the technology has already made an impact in a community, across our nation, and has the power to improve society.
