The Spacecraft Acoustic Lab (SAL) Reverberant acoustic chamber & Hemi-anechoic acoustic chamber at JSC Vibration and Acoustic Test Facility are currently active. Unique characteristics include:

- compressed air as the sound media & therefore has unlimited run time

- 2nd largest Reverberant Chamber in the world, largest Reverberant Chamber (by volume) in the world to potentially produce over 160+ dB

- With the ceiling raised to its highest position the chamber has a volume of over 137,000 cubic feet

- Sound Transmission Loss testing

- in-wall panel testing; exposing one side to a reverberant sound field and the other to a Hemi-Anechoic environment

- multiple horn locations available on the chamber

- numerous different frequency horns available & 38 air modulators are available (both high & low frequency)

- Horn cutoff frequency selection: 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 80, 100, 160, 250, 400 Hz.

- Critical Lift Cranes

- Adjustable ceiling at 2 heights, 75 ft and 32 ft
