Description

Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) is the largest tenant command aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fl., with several offsite locations. Established in 1940, the facilities at FRCSE has overhauled almost every type of Navy aircraft - fighter and attack, patrol, antisubmarine, reconnaissance, transport, trainer, special configuration and helicopters. The facility is the largest industrial employer in the northeast Florida region and is one of eight Fleet Readiness Centers commissioned by the Department of the Navy to perform comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), operations and modification of fleet aircraft, engines, and aeronautical components. The current workload at FRCSE includes the repair and refurbishment of airframes, engines, components, and ground support equipment plus other support functions vital to the Fleet. FRCSE is ISO 9001 certified and was the first Navy facility to earn the prestigious AS 9100 certification, covering all aspects of MRO, including engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and support services.

As part of the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) TEAM, the Materials Engineering Division is dedicated to supporting the warfighter by providing aircraft-related materials engineering and analytical services to FRCSE industrial operations, NAVAIR Program Managers, fleet personnel, and industry partners. The Division is principally located in a modern, 16,500 square foot laboratory that is equipped with sophisticated analytical equipment needed to solve aircraft related materials problems, develop process procedures and discover steps for improvement. Services range from basic materials identification to complex material determination and failure analysis. As part of the Environmental Management System (EMS), we are involved with evaluating manufacturing and maintenance technologies that solve environmental compliance challenges through pollution prevention.

Mission

FRCSE is dedicated to providing quality services for both private and public customers. As a result of efforts toward continuous improvement and customer satisfaction, FRCSE has received a wide variety of awards in the areas of manufacturing excellence, performance-based logistics, lean/six sigma implementation, and industrial and logistics excellence from federal, state and local agencies.

Our mission is to maintain capability for and perform a complete range of depot-level rework operations on designated weapon systems, accessories and equipment; to manufacture parts and assemblies as required; to provide engineering services in the development of changes of hardware design; to furnish technical and other professional services on aircraft maintenance and logistics problems; to perform, upon specific request or assignment, other levels of aircraft maintenance for eligible activities, and to perform all other functions and tasks as may be assigned by higher authority.

The Materials Engineering Laboratory has traditionally played a critical role in the repair, overhaul, and maintenance of naval aircraft and engines. As part of the engineering services at the FRCSE, Materials Engineering provides the means of measuring quality and performance of components against industry and government standards. The engineering, testing, and evaluation services contribute to assuring compliance with both government and industry requirements for parts and processes, that can deliver increased performance, improved manufacturing economics, and minimize adverse environmental impacts.
