Imagine flying a plane without leaving the ground. A team from MITRE's Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD) works in one of the cockpit simulators located in the Aviation IDEA Lab (Integration, Demonstration, and Experimentation for Aeronautics). The cockpit simulator allows the team to explore a complex procedure of systems interaction, enabling faster, better-informed decision-making while in-flight. CAASD is the federally funded research and development center sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration to help provide the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world.

The MITRE Corporation is a not-for-profit organization that operates research and development centers sponsored by the federal government. Chartered to work in the public interest, MITRE has no commercial interests, owners, or shareholders.
