Startup Culture and Personnel Strategies - The Role of the Founders, Board, Management and Employees and Tools to Promote a Successful Relationship Among all Parties:

The minute more than one person is involved in an organization, a culture starts to develop.  Culture — the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an organization — and an organization’s team are two key elements that can propel a startup towards success or hinder its ability to execute.

Douglas M. Fox, a business and finance partner with Ballard Spahr LLP and the co-leader of its Life Sciences and Technology Group, and Elizabeth (Liz) A. Hecker, a business and finance attorney with Ballard and a member of its Emerging Growth and Venture Capital Group, will host an interactive discussion for founders and CEOs to discuss how to proactively shape and structure enduring cultures and address tricky personnel issues.  In particular, Doug and Liz will discuss the importance of founders’ agreements, the role of the board verses management, tools for incentivizing employees and share examples of what can happen when organizations get it wrong.
