There are many other non-government resources available to help you
get your small business succeed. Here are a few business
associations with programs in a variety of areas important to all
businesses, large and small.
SSTI has developed a nationwide network of practitioners and policymakers dedicated to improving
the economy through science and technology. This network has resulted in unique access to information.
SSTI uses this access to assist states and communities as they build tech-based economies, conduct
research on best practices and trends in tech-based economic development, and encourage cooperation
among and between state and federal programs.
AUTM provides numerous resources for members including survey reports, professional development
courses, a comprehensive training manual, peer-reviewed journal and a worldwide community of peers
with expertise in all areas of intellectual property management.
TThe Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) was established to facilitate the
transfer and commercialization of technology from Maryland’s research universities and federal labs
into the marketplace and to assist in the creation and growth of technology-based businesses in all
regions of the State.
LES is a welcoming business community that empowers, connects, and celebrates IP professionals
through: Education, Best Practices, Networking, Participation and Mentoring.
AURP is a professional association of university-related research, science and technology parks.
AURP’s membership includes planned and operating parks, many of which contain technology incubators.
A variety of university, government, notfor- profit and private companies interested in the development
and operation of hightechnology economic development projects also comprise AURP’s membership.
