Lewis Meixler, head of technology transfer and applications research at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) and the FLC Northeast Regional Coordinator, recently received the State of New Jersey Meritorious Service medal for his service to the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. Major General Glenn K. Reith from the N.J. National Guard awarded the medal to Meixler and 12 other state residents for their service on the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Committee.
"Lewis Meixler has made significant contributions toward enhancing disaster preparedness, response, and recovery involving chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats," the citation read, in part.
During his time at PPPL, Meixler has been the recipient of many awards and honors. In 1995, he received the Northeast Regional Coordinator's Excellence Award in recognition of his significant contribution to the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC), and in 1996, the FLC Representative of the Year award. More recently, Meixler was awarded the 2011 FLC Interagency Partnership Award for his support of the transfer of homeland security technology. Meixler's technical background centers on electronic design. He contributed to research at PPPL as well as at the Radio Corporation of America (GE)-Astro Electronics, where he specifically focused on spacecraft and ground station design. At PPPL, Meixler is responsible for licensing and CRADAs, establishing sponsored research and collaborations between the PPPL and industry.
