Digital Precision Strike Suite (DPSS) and its three components (Precision Strike Suite for Special Operations Forces, Scene Matching, and Precision Fires Image), all developed in recent years by the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division—China Lake, are being used daily to fight the global war on terror.
Each of these tools is National Geospatial Targeting Agency (NGA) validated; integrates high-resolution ground imagery, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data, forward-looking infrared (FLIR), and specialized algorithms in order to provide precise coordinates for precision guided munitions; and is authorized by U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) for use in theater.
Uses in theater include targeting, leadership interdiction operations, direct action missions, force protection, situational awareness and mission planning.
