Background/History of the Laboratory:
Established in 1984, USAMMDA
serves the Joint Warfighter by ushering medical products from
concept through advanced development. USAMMDA has a long
history of successful medical product development, many of
which have been fielded by the Pharmaceutical and Applied
Medical Products Divisions.
More recently, the breadth and depth of USAMMDA expanded and includes an ability to
deploy a Special Medical Augmentation Response Team in
support of investigational products (SMART-IND), real-time
Force Health Protection assistance, and rapid prototype
development of urgent Warfighter needs. Additionally, the
Division of Regulated Activity and Compliance (DRAC) provides
essential support to the Office of the Surgeon General as the
Department of the Army Sponsor’s Representative. This
includes oversight for all FDA and EPA regulated activities
in support of all U.S. Forces.
Mission of the Laboratory:
Our mission is to develop and manage medical materiel to
protect and sustain the Warfighter on point for the Nation.
Our vision is to integrate with USAMRMC, Federal agencies,
and the DoD, as part of the joint biomedical research and
materiel community, to focus on delivering the best medical
solutions for today and tomorrow.
