Background/History of the Laboratory:

The U.S. Geological Survey's Louisiana Water Science Center provides information regarding one of Louisiana's greatest resources—water. The Center provides both real-time and historical data on many of the rivers, streams, and bayous in the state, as well as ground water, water quality, and water use data and makes available projects and reports that cover a wide variety of water-related topics, ranging from broad-based regional studies to tightly focused, in-depth investigations of specific regions in Louisiana. Many federal, state, and local agencies as well as individual citizens rely on the data the Center gathers and presents when making decisions regarding everything from ensuring public safety to scheduling recreational activities.
