Background/History of the Laboratory:
Soldiers today are becoming proficient through advanced
technology that is blurring distinctions between live and
virtual training. These technologies are being pursued in
Orlando, Fla., at the Simulation
and Training Technology Center (STTC), part of the U.S. Army
Research, Development and Engineering Command
(RDECOM).
Mission of the Laboratory:
To enhance Warfighter readiness through research and
development of applied simulation technologies for learning,
training, testing and mission rehearsal.
To achieve the above mission, the STTC established six
strategic goals:
Facilities:
Technology Transfer Mechanisms:
- Facility Sharing
- Partnering
- Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR)
Technology Areas of Expertise:
- Immersive Environments
- Joint Unmanned Systems Test Experimentation & Research
- Advanced Medical Training
- Agents and Teams Collaboration
- Artificial Intelligence
- Autonomous Behaviors for Air/Ground Teams
- Computer Generated Forces in Urban Terrain
- Distributed Advanced Graphics Generator and Embedded Rehearsal System
- Embedded Training for Dismounted Soldiers
- Fires and Effects Training Systems
- Global War Environments
- Massive Multi-Player Simulations for Asymmetric Warfare
- Modeling Architecture
