Background/History of the Laboratory:
Robins Air Force Base, Ga., is named for
Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins, one of the Army Air Corps'
first General Staff Officers, and Commander of the Air Corps' Materiel Division at Wright Field, Ohio,
from 1935 to
1939. Warner Robins is one of three Air Logistics Centers that provide logistics support to the entire
US Air Force.
It determines the spare parts, supplies, and equipment needed to support the weapon systems and commodities
for which it is responsible, including aircraft structures, avionics, communications, software, automatic
test
systems, vehicles, and other areas to support the Air Force mission. With the appropriate agreements
in place,
many of our repair, test and other facilities are available on a non-interference basis. Facilities
on base include
approximately 4.2 million square feet of maintenance shops, 1.8 million square feet of administrative
space, and
3.7 million square feet of storage space. WR-ALC is the largest industrial complex in Georgia, with
an annual
payroll of over $1.2 billion.
Mission of the Laboratory:
As an integral part of the world's most
respected Air and Space Force, Warner Robins Air Logistics Center is
dedicated to the mission of providing combat capabilities for Department of Defense and allied nation
war
fighters through superior weapon systems sustainment and deployment of combat-ready forces. As one of
three air logistics centers that provide logistics support to the entire U.S. Air Force; Warner Robins
Air Logistics
Center supports the goals and objectives of Air Force Material Command and other Air Force and Department
of Defense activities. Our motto is "People First-Mission Always". The center provides various
aspects of cradle-
to-grave weapon systems management, sustainment, metrology and calibration services, and integrated
logistics support for the F-15, C-5, C-17, C-130, U-2, E-8 (Joint Stars), and various special operations
aircraft
and helicopters. Similar support is provided for electronic warfare equipment, avionics, general purpose
computers, support equipment, missiles, aircraft propellers and vehicles of various types. WR-ALC also
conducts routine and emergency software programming of Air Force and other DOD and allied electronic
warfare systems.
