Authority
- Title 10 USC, Section 2667, of the National Defense Authorization Act
Description
- With the expanded authority of Title 10 U.S.C., Section 2667, of the National Defense Authorization Act, Department of Defense installations now have the authority and incentive to obtain a broad range of financial and in-kind considerations for leasing opportunities. These changes maximize the utility and value of installation real property, and provide additional tools for managing the installation's assets to achieve business efficiencies.
Features/Characteristics
- The agreement allows ARL to:
- Enter into long-term leases.
- Receive cash or in-kind consideration for income on leased property, which can be used for repair, construction, support, etc.
I.P. and Resource Commitment
- The Secretary of the Army must approve all real or personal property available for leasing, and the property must not be considered "excess" property to qualify. Leases may be entered into if the Secretary considers it advantageous to the United States, and upon such terms as the Secretary considers will promote the national defense or be in the public interest.
