Description

  • A CRADA is a formal agreement used for the purpose of commercializing technology.

    Requirements:

    • Federal laboratory
    • No NASA funds involved
    • Advanced IP rights can be negotiated.

    NASA has statutory authority to enter into CRADAs, but does not use this authority when NASA's technology transfer objectives can be met within the parameters of Space Act Agreements.

Features/Characteristics

  • The federal laboratory can provide personnel, services, facilities, equipment, intellectual property, or other resources with or without reimbursement (but not funds to nonfederal parties).

    The nonfederal parties provide funds, personnel, services, facilities, equipment, intellectual property, or other resources toward the conduct of specified research or development efforts that are consistent with the missions of the laboratory.

I.P. and Resource Commitment

  • Advanced IP rights can be negotiated.

    Through a CRADA, no funds are provided to nonfederal parties.
