Description
- NASA may enter into two types of Space Act Agreements:
Space Act Agreement - Reimbursable is an agreement for the reimbursable use of NASA facilities, personnel or equipment by a public or private entity wanting to advance Research and Development efforts.
Space Act Agreement - Nonreimbursable is a collaborative Research and Development effort in which NASA and the other party contributes personnel, use of NASA facilities, expertise, equipment, technology, etc., but no transfer of funds.
Features/Characteristics
NASA inventions created under a Space Act Agreement may be exclusively licensed only after publication in accordance with the requirements of 37 CFR § 404.7.
Space Act Agreement - Reimbursable: No goods or services are provided to NASA. Instead, NASA provides data, facilities and services to the paying entity. Space Act Agreement - Nonreimbursable: Each party agrees to fund its own participation under this agreement.The agreement is an "other transaction" as authorized by 305(a) of the Space Act [42 U.S.C. § 2473(c)(5) and (6)].
