Description
- A Biological Materials License may be negotiated if no patent rights exist for a material. It allows a company to make, use and/or sell commercially useful biological materials that are not in the public domain and for which patent protection cannot or will not be obtained.
Features/Characteristics
This type of license typically is nonexclusive and limited.
It facilitates the commercial development of biological materials developed in NIH laboratories without requiring that patent protection be obtained for every material.
