Patents and Technology Transfer - Classroom (on-site)

Description:

The Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NAVSEA) regularly offers the Patents and Technology Transfer course for its employees. Patents are critical to the future of the Carderock Division. It is important for scientists and engineers to increase their awareness of the value of inventions and patents. In addition, many Division employees do not understand what constitutes an invention or that certain events, such as distributing written descriptions of inventions, can restrict or prevent the patenting of inventions. The purpose of the course is to provide a basic working knowledge of inventions, patents, and technology transfer. The main goals of the course are to: 1. Make the overall invention protection process less mysterious; 2. Assist technical personnel in recognizing when they have made inventions, and; 3. Encourage inventors to submit invention disclosures. The Patents and Technology Transfer course is presented several times each year at the Carderock and Philadelphia sites. Division employees should contact the Division Technology Transfer Office at (301) 227-4299 for details.
