National Institutes of Health (NIH) Technology Transfer Training Online - Online

Description:

This online training program is designed to provide pertinent information about technology transfer and technology transfer mechanisms used at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as well as other federal agencies and laboratories. The course covers six core subjects in a modular format: Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs), patents and inventions, licensing, royalties, and ethics. Each module presents information on one of the core subjects, and students proceed at their own pace. After completing a module, the student is presented a series of case-based scenarios and must answer questions based on the information in the module. It is estimated that each module will require approximately 40 minutes to complete. Should a student log out before completing a module, he/she will be returned that point in the module at the next log in. The course may be taken free of charge by non-NIH employees. However, all NIH Principal Investigators (Senior Investigators, Investigators, Adjunct Investigators, and Senior Scientists/Clinicians) are required to complete all six subject modules (i.e. MTAs, CRADAs, Patents and Inventions, Licensing, Royalties, and Ethics) of the online Technology Transfer Training course. All Fellows, Graduate Students, and Staff Scientists/Staff Clinicians are required to complete MTA,s Patents and Inventions, and a portion of the Ethics module.
