Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) - Classroom (on-site)

The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at the University of Washington Foster School of Business is a leading national center for the creation and dissemination of knowledge on technology entrepreneurship and innovation. The Center provides students with the education and experience that allows them to become successful entrepreneurs or corporate entrepreneurs. The Center promotes and develops an entrepreneurial environment that leads to the creation of vibrant and thriving high-growth, technology-oriented companies. The CIE provides: Courses in entrepreneurial strategy, marketing, and new venture financing; Tools for intellectual property analysis, market evaluation, and risk and reward assessment; Access to next-generation technologies, inventors, experienced entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists. Through academic programs, business plan competitions, and access to leading faculty and practitioners, students learn firsthand how to transform innovations and technologies into new and viable enterprises. The CIE offers an undergraduate option, open to undergraduates admitted to the UW Foster School of Business, a Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship for MBA students who have completed their core requirements and want to develop entrepreneurial skills during their second year, a Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship for UW graduate students enrolled outside the Foster School, and a Ph.D. program in Technology Entrepreneurship. These programs focus on new enterprise creation as well as the specifics of marketing and sales, finance, operations and law as they relate to the start-up or rapid-growth firm. Admission requirements vary according to program area.
